Community Giving Quilts

The guild donates handmade quilts to organizations in central Iowa to help individuals who are in need of warmth and caring.  Some of our recent recipients of our talents are:

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Quilts are made for babies during their stay in the hospital then it continues to comfort the family when they go home.  The quilts are used to filter the bright light from the infants' eyes and to help regulate the temperature for the babies.  It also reassures the parents that others are supporting them through their journey.  Need for quilts is over 700 per year at Mercy and over 900 per year at Methodist.

Kids Aging Out of Foster Care

Quilts are made for children who are approaching 18 years old and are preparing for adult living.  Quilts and pillow cases are given to these children to have something of their own during this transition.

Quilts of Valor

Handmade quilts are presented to our local service members and veterans who have been touched by war.  This is a national organization that is dedicated to cover our service members and veterans with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.

Cancer Quilts

Quilts with reassuring quotes are given to local churches to provide to their members who are dealing with cancer.  These quilts are many times taken to chemo treatments to keep the patient warm.

Meals on Wheels/Wesley Life

Placemats are given to Ankeny Meals on Wheels which are provided to those that they serve.  These brighten their day and are a reminder that others are thinking of them.
